Its capital is Prosperidad and borders, from the northy clockwise, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, and Bukidnon. The province of Agusan del Sur is known as a big producer of rice and some agricultural products in the Caraga region in Mindanao.
