Facing the Pacific Ocean, Dahican Beach is a 7-kilometer beach boasting of powerful waves thus attracting surfers and skimboarders, especially the beginners.  Tourists can take surfing lessons, practice their skills, or do other water activities such as paddleboarding and kayaking.

On top of challenging water activities, the combination of crystal clear water, white sand, and shore lined with palm trees provide a scenic view and tropical paradise vibe.  

The beach is also a sea turtle sanctuary and even got its name from the local word “dahik” which refers to the act of these animals coming to the shore at night to nest.  Aside from sea turtles, sea cows, locally referred to as dugong, can also be sighted in the area.

How to Get to Dahican Beach?

By Air

Step 1
Fly to Davao Airport via Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, or AirAsia.

Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific have multiple direct flights everyday to Davao from Manila and Cebu while only one direct flight from Iloilo via Cebu Pacific.

Step 2
From the airport, you can walk a short distance from the airport to the main road where you can catch a bus going to Mati via Tagum City.  Travel time is about three hours and the fare should be around P250 ($5 USD).

Alternatively, you can proceed to Ecoland Bus Terminal via taxi or bus passing though the main road outside the airport.  The fare from the airport to Ecoland Bus Terminal should be about P300 ($6 USD).  From the terminal, you can take a bus to Mati.  You can also take a van to Mati at the Gaisano Mall of Davao or Victoria Plaza.

Step 3
Get off at Mati City Bus Terminal and proceed to Dahican Beach through tricycle or habal-habal.

By Sea

Traveling by sea may not be the fastest way to get to Mati City but if you prefer this mode of transportation, here’s how to do it.

Step 1
You can sail from Manila to Cagayan de Oro via 2Go Travel.  The shipping company has four trips weekly – Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.  The time of departure varies each day yet arrives 32 hours after departure.  Fare ranges from P2,200 ($44 USD) to P7,400 ($148 USD) depending on the type of accommodation.

Step 2
From Cagayan de Oro City, take a bus to Davao City.  A bus leaves CDO every 30 minutes from 1:15 AM to 11:45 PM.  Travel time is around seven hours and the fare ranges from P700 ($14 USD) to P900 ($20 USD).

Step 3
At Ecoland Bus Terminal, you can take a bus to Mati.  Travel time is about three hours and the fare should be around P250 ($5 USD).

Step 4
Get off at Mati City Bus Terminal and proceed to Dahican Beach through tricycle or habal-habal.
