SM Mall of Asia, also known as SM MOA, was the largest shopping mall in the Philippines when it opened in 2006 but was surpassed by SM City North EDSA after its renovation in 2008. In 2021, Ikea Philippines opened in SM MOA and reclaimed the spot as the largest mall in the country.

What makes this mall unique is its two-story entertainment complex, most of which is open-air facing Manila Bay. It also houses the first-ever IMAX Theater in the country, the San Miguel Coca-Cola IMAX Theater which happens to be the biggest IMAX Theater in the country and one of the biggest in the world.

Within the mall complex is SM Mall of Asia Arena, an indoor arena with 16,000 seating capacity and 20,000 full house capacity. The Mall of Asia Concert grounds, alternatively used as a parking lot when there is no event, can accommodate a total of 110,000 persons within the two blocks it comprises.

01 | Main Mall Complex

The main mall complex consists of four buildings connected by walkways and pathways. It houses most of the shopping and dining outlets including the MOA Food Hall, The SM Store, and SM Hypermarket. Within the main mall is the Entertainment Mall, a two-storey building which is mostly open-air and houses more shopping and dining outlets as well as the Music Hall.

02 | SM Skating Rink

SM MOA boasts of being the country’s first Olympic-sized skating rink. It covers an area of 1,800 square meters with a spectators area which can seat 200 persons.

03 | SM Cinema and IMAX Theater

The mall has a total of 16 cinemas including three Director’s Club Cinemas and an IMAX Theater, the largest IMAX Theater in the Philippines.

04 | SM Central Business Park

Surrounding the main mall is the SM Central Business Park, a complex comprising several buildings, residential areas, and spaces including the SM Mall of Asia Arena, The Mall of Asia Concert Grounds, and the SMX Convention Center Manila, the largest convention center and privately run exhibit in the Philippines.

At the back of the mall along Manila Bay is an esplanade used for various events such as product launches, fireworks displays, parties, and others. The SM By the Bay Amusement Park is also found in the area. The park currently houses 17 rides and attractions including the Mall of Asia Eye, a 55-meter ferris wheel also known as The Eye of Asia.

05 | Archdiocesan Shrine of Jesus The Way, The Truth, and The Life

Located along the Coral Way and a few meters from SMX Convention Center is the Archdiocesan Shrine of Jesus The Way, The Truth, and The Life, a Roman Catholic Church which features a romanesque architecture.
