OVERVIEW

Cesar Lim Rodriguez Airport, also known as Taytay Airport, Sandoval Airport or Taytay–Sandoval Airport, is an airport serving the general area of Taytay, located in the province of Palawan in the Philippines. The facility was named after Taytay native Cesar Lim Rodriguez, a former judge who donated part of his property for the airport.

The airport is owned by the Province of Palawan. Recent interest in improving the infrastructure in this airport is due to its strategic location in the northern part of the Palawan mainland: the renowned beach resorts of the area (including El Nido and Apulit Island) and the historic town of Taytay are only 30 to 40 kilometers by road from the airport. In comparison, the only other airport capable of handling large aircraft is located in the provincial capital of Puerto Princesa, approximately 230 kilometers to the south.

AIRLINES & DESTINATIONS

The following airlines have daily flights to and from the following destinations:

ARRIVALS

When you arrive at the airport you will either exit the plane onto the tarmac and walk to the terminal, or deplane onto the tarmac and take a bus to the terminal, or deplane using a skywalk directly into the airport terminal.

Once in the terminal, you will walk a short distance to the baggage claim area to retrieve any bags you may have checked.

After claiming your checked luggage you may exit the terminal directly to the passenger loading zone where you can choose a form of transportation to take you to your destination.

See the Transportation to/from this Airport section below for available modes of transport to/from this airport.

DEPARTURES

When you arrive at the departure side of this airport, there will be an area to unload your luggage directly outside the Departure Entrance of the terminal.

You must have a valid ticket to enter the terminal.  You and your luggage will need to pass through the security checkpoint to enter the terminal.

Once you pass through the security checkpoint at the entrance of the terminal, you will be in the Check-In area where you may begin the check-in process, check your luggage, and obtain your boarding pass.

After checking your luggage and obtaining your boarding pass, you may need to pay a terminal fee if it is not included in the cost of your plane ticket.  You must do this BEFORE you can pass through the next security checkpoint to enter the Passenger Waiting area.

The security checkpoint to enter the Passenger Waiting area tends to be more strict and usually requires removing your belt, shoes, hat, all items in your pockets and on your body, as well as large electronics such as tablets and laptops from your bags BEFORE passing through the security checkpoint.

Planes are boarded via a skywalk or from the tarmac.  Depending on the distance of your plane from the terminal, you will either walk to the plane on the tarmac, or a bus will take you to your plane which you will then board from the tarmac.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Prohibited Items

The list of prohibited items has been expanded to include all liquid substances such as beverages, lotion, shampoo, toothpaste, gels, astringents, and other items of similar consistency. These items shall be placed in the check-in luggage and shall be confiscated if found at the final screening point.

Subject to usual inspection but are not covered by these restrictions are baby formula, breast milk or juice for a baby or small child who is traveling, prescription medicine under the passenger’s name, insulin, and other non-prescription medicines and airline crew groom kits.

For other special arrangements please coordinate with your Airline Company.

Miscellaneous

  • You can NOT enter the terminal without a valid plane ticket.
  • If you do not arrive at least 1 hour BEFORE your flight, you may not be allowed to enter the terminal.
  • It is possible that you could be kept waiting outside a terminal for a delayed plane. Outside but under cover that is. Airport officials sometimes do not allow anyone in the terminal until 2 hours before departure.

Advice

  • Always check your reservation to determine which terminal your flight is departing from.
  • You should consider dressing as light as possible as they may make you remove any belts, shoes, hats and pass them through the x-ray machine.
  • Beware of scams and thieves.  Keep your bags and valuables close to you at all times while traveling through the airport, on the plane, and in the transport from the airport to your destination.
  • Don’t wait until the last minute to go to the airport.  It can take time to catch a taxi (30+ minutes). There are often long lines to get into this airport, at the check-in counters, security, and customs. Expect the worst and arrive several hours BEFORE your departure time to avoid missing your flight.
  • Always have at least 1,000 pesos handy to pay the terminal fee should you have to.  Not all airports accept credit cards or the credit card machines are often not working.
