What makes this waterfall truly unique is its unusual appearance – instead of the traditional cascading water from a rock formation, Asik Asik Falls features a frothy water spouting off a wall covered by lush vegetation. One of the fascinating aspects of Asik-Asik Falls is the absence of a visible river or stream above it. The water seems to spring magically from the rocks, giving the falls a mystical and almost surreal quality. The waterfall’s source is actually a subterranean river (a river under the earth’s surface). The name “Asik-Asik” is derived from the local term that means “sprinkle,” which aptly describes the way water seems to sprinkle down from the verdant cliff.

How to Get to Asik-Asik Falls?
By Air via Cotabato City
- Take a plane to Cotabato City. As of this time, direct flights from Manila are being offered by Philippine Airlines only.
- From Cotabato City, take a van to Midsayap. Travel time is about 2 hours.
- Ride a jeepney to Barangay Upper Dado and take a motorcycle to the jumpoff point. Alternatively, you can reach Upper Dado from Midsayap via a hired motorcycle. Travel time would be around 2 hours.
- Trek to the falls.
By Air via Davao City
- Take a plane to Davao City via major commercial airlines including Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, and AirAsia. Philippine Airlines have multiple flights to Francisco Bangoy International Airport from Manila and Cebu while Cebu Pacific offers direct flights to Davao from Manila, Cebu, and Iloilo. AirAsia offers flights from Manila only.
- From the airport, head to Ecoland Bus Terminal and take a bus bound for Cotabato City. Get off at Midsayap. Travel time is about 4 to 5 hours.
- Ride a jeepney to Barangay Upper Dado and take a motorcycle to the jumpoff point. Alternatively, you can reach Upper Dado from Midsayap via a hired motorcycle. Travel time would be around 2 hours.
- Trek to the falls.
By Sea via Cagayan de Oro City
- You can sail from Manila to Cagayan de Oro via 2Go Travel. The shipping company has four trips weekly – Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. The time of departure varies each day yet arrives 32 hours after departure. Fare ranges from P2,200 ($44 USD) to P7,400 ($148 USD) depending on the type of accommodation.
- From the Westbound Terminal located in Bulua, Cagayan de Oro City, take a bus bound for Cotabato City. A bus leaves CDO at 6:00 AM, 6:30 AM, 8:00 AM, 9:30 AM, and 11:00 AM. Travel time is about 4 to 5 hours.
- Get off at Libungan Terminal and hire a motorcycle to the jumpoff point in Barangay Upper Dado. Travel time is about 1 hour.
- Trek to the falls.
